A continuously monitored material feed in the dosing screw and in the upstream container ensures explosion decoupling during the grinding process. If the product feed in the upstream container drops to a previously defined filling level, then the blowout preventer closes automatically. The preventer is resistant to pressure shocks and flashback-proof and now protects the empty upstream container from any possible flashback from the grinding system.
If the upstream container is filled with material once again, the preventer opens automatically and releases the product path. The blowout protector has a monitored compressed air feed and closes automatically in the event of a fault (drop in working air pressure and in the event of a power failure). If the blowout protector end positions are not reached, this is immediately signalled to the higher-level control system by a fault message.
Functionality – Phase A
Upstream container filled: The grist in the dosing screw and upstream container blocks the spread of flame between the hammer mill and the feed system, i.e. the upstream container.
Functionality – Phase B
Upstream container empty: The blowout protector closes automatically after a preset time. The blowout preventer blocks the spread of flame between the hammer mill and the feed system, i.e. the upstream container.
