Why Tietjen Hammer Mills Are Well Suited for Fine Grinding
Hammer mills are the preferred equipment for grinding pet food recipes because they work on the principle of impact grinding, thus producing a very finely tuned particle structure.
The technology of modern Tietjen hammer mills is specially designed to meet the requirements of pet food production. They offer the following features:
- Fine screens with small hole diameters and low material thickness
- Reinforced screen frames, special screen seals and an adapted configuration of the beaters, which help to ensure that up to 98–99% of the particles are below the desired upper limit.
- Particularly fine grinding, where additional impact plates are used to increase fineness while improving throughput and energy efficiency.
- Processing particularly fat- and protein-rich recipes that quickly lead to caking and clogging. A reduced distance between beaters and screen ensures that the screen openings remain free in Tietjen mills.
- The correct amount of air, which prevents deposits on the screen surface, stabilises the product flow and keeps the temperature low during the process.
