Separation of Very Fine Products by Air Streams
Mechanical separation by screen cloth reaches its physical limits with very fine products. It is exactly here that solutions in the field of windsifting come into use. Separation in the windsifter is achieved by an air stream that draws the finer and therefore suspended particles along with it. Larger and heavier particles sink down and are therefore separated.
Windsifting has long been associated with the threshing of grain, whereby the chaff is separated from the grain by the wind. Our windsifters, which permit separation in the fine particle range from 50 to 500 µm, of course have only the principle in common with this.
